Dr. David Richardson Appointed Ei Group Head of R&D.
David joined Ei Electronics as Chemical and Sensor Technologist in August 2015. He was promoted to the position of Senior Technologist in April 2018, with a technology leadership and advisory role across all R&D projects.
In April 2024 he was promoted to Group CTO. In his new position, he will maintain his CTO responsibilities.
As Head of R&D & CTO David will manage Ei’s expanding Engineering Team to drive innovation and delivery across the Group into the future. He will also serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and the Executive Team on all technology-related matters.
David has a B.Sc. in Applied Physics and a PhD in Materials Science, both from the University of Limerick (UL). He has numerous publications to his name across a wide range of topics and also a Master’s Degree in Technology Management from the University of Galway.
The appointment co-indices with the announcement by Mike Keegan of his planned retirement in the next 1-2 years. Mike has headed the R&D function in Ei for the last 6 years during which time it has grown significantly. He will remain on in a support capacity to David in the role of R&D Resource Planning, assessing current and future resource needs, including human resources and equipment, and assisting with identifying professional development needs and opportunities.
